WAITING ON THE FALL BITE

Well folks, it's that time of year again. Trying to catch a grouper in shallow water is hard to do. Freddy, Danny, Stan and I made a trip out last Sunday and had five grouper on the first stop in 73 foot of water. Four of them was nice grouper and one 23" gag, several rock bass and grunts, lane snapper and one trigger fish all on the first stop and then the bite was off. That's the best we've done on grouper over the last month. Plenty of huge red snapper. Even more since the last two small storms we had, but we have to put them back there's a shortage on them, (Man do we have some dumb people making laws). I have had some good reports on grouper in 90 plus foot of water but I haven't fished that deep. It won't be long before the big grouper move back in shallow and ready to fill there bellies and my limit. I'm ready.
There's still a lot of bait in the bay area providing some awesome tarpon fishing but I have not had a report on the trout and reds since the last big rain. We had a lot of rain for several days turning the water in the bay dark brown, but it is starting to clear up now. We have had some nice weather over the last few days and more to come this week so load up and head on down Carrabelle Fl for some great fishing. Stop by the Hometown BP and Deli for all Fishing needs.

Good luck and good fishing,

Last day for Red Snapper

Well folks, it's over. This is the last day of red snapper season. The above pictures was taken Saturday. My son Brian, son-in-law Cade and myself loaded up with Welch Goggins on his 330 Grady White and headed Southeast for about a 40 mile run, after one more shot at those big snapper. We limited out on the first stop and hit a few holes on the way in trying to pick up some grouper with no luck. We caught a lot of shorts and some nice rock bass and headed on home. The gags should be moving in in the next few months and the fun will begin again. There was some good grouper caught last weekend. The fishermen I talked with was fishing 80'-90' of water and had some big grouper. I was going to give it one more try this morning but the rain changed my mind, oh well there's always tomorrow.
Good luck and good fishing

We made another run out to 96' of water and had a good day. This was a red snapper and amberjack trip but we did manage to land 3 nice gags. This was a one stop trip with 2 hours of travel time each way so we did not get to fish long. We limited out on snapper quick, boated 5 nice aj's, 3 gags and one king and headed for high ground. I had a young crew of fellows (three 70 plus two late 60's and 2 mid fifties and all give out). Anyway the fish are biting good and there is a lot of red out there. Not a lot of grouper being caught. There is always a drop off this time of year with most of the big gags being in 140' plus, but they will return.
Still getting good reports on the inshore fishing. Tons of tarpon in the bay area now, plenty of trout, reds and large schools of big jack in the bay feeding on the big schools of bait. The fishing is great so load up and head on down to Carrabelle.
Just a quick update on fishing, you folks have a great day.
Good luck and good fishing,

THE BIG SNAPPER ARE STILL BITING GOOD

The big snapper are still biting good. We made a trip out Sunday afternoon and limited out on the first stop. Freddy my wife, Sharon and I made a thirty plus mile run to one of my best snapper holes to see if the big ones was still around. We limited out quick and headed home.
Most of the big grouper are being caught is in 120 foot plus. Talking with my friends, they say the bite is pretty good out there. Inshore plenty of trout and reds. Tarpon are everywhere. My bait man said he is seeing the most tarpon he has ever seen, busting the bait up making it hard to catch them he complains. They make it tough. Anyway the fish are here waiting on fishermen. Load up and head on down to Carrabelle Fl. for some of the best fishing around. Stop by the Hometown BP & Deli for all your boating and fishing needs.
Good luck and good fishing,

THE BIG RED BITE IS STILL ON

The big red snapper are still plentiful (even though there not supposed to be) and biting good. I made a couple of trips out since the last update and thought I would put some photo's on the web. The first trip, bottom three photo's was a trip with my uncle Bobby, Jack Sisk, and Michael Messer. We made a forty mile run and enjoyed some of if not the best fishing I ever been a part of. Man it wore us out. Big snapper and aj's plus a few gags, but the bite was one that would amaze you.
The top photos was taken aboard Kenny Jones new boat. A 35' everglades with three 350 v-8 four strokes on the Stearn, nothing but power. One word to describe this boat "awesome". We had eight people on board, my wife Sharon, our daughter Sheena, Kenny, his wife Lila, Kenny's three son's Cade (my son-in-law to be), Blake and Blair. We limited out on snapper and aj's on the first stop. Big snapper and aj's which had everyone sweating and having fun. We was going to stop off at one of Kenny's good grouper holes but everyone was give out from fighting those big strong fish. Blair also landed a three hundred plus pound Goliath grouper which put him down in the back, and ended his fishing for the day.
Anyway the fish are biting good so load up and head on down to Carrabelle Fl for some of the best fishing around. Stop by the Hometown BP & Deli for all your fishing needs. We open at 5:30 in the morning with fresh breakfast sandwiches ready to roll. Stop by and pay us a visit.
Good luck and good fishing,

Red Snapper, it's that time of the year again

It's been quite a while since I updated. Busy time of the year. Folks have been catching lots of fish. Inshore and offshore fishing has been great this year. The bay is full of big bull reds and trout. The offshore fishing is great, with many red snapper being caught.

Captain Freddy and I made a trip Monday with good friends Ted, Steve and George on opening day of red snapper season. We made two stops, one to fight AJ's, the next was on my best snapper reading. We dropped down and it was on. Big snapper, drags slipping sweat flowing and having fun. We managed to land ten of those big boys plus several nice grouper and a 34" AJ and headed for home, give out but all wearing a smile. This day it happened like you pray it will. I'll only hit this spot one or two more times then wait a year to do it again. To give you an idea on how big these fish was the gag grouper on the top row with the snapper was a little over 23".

Anyway the fishing is great so load up and head down to Carrabelle Fl and enjoy some of the best fishing available to man, Stop by the Hometown BP and Deli for all your shopping and fishing needs and advice on where to catch them. I house the best bait in town.

Good luck and good fishing,

IT'S NOT LONG NOW

Hey gang, its that time of year again. The big fish are just waiting to bow our rods and I'm ready to help them out. It seems like its been for ever since I've been out on the big lake, but I'm ready. The opening is this Wed April the 1st. Just a few days off. I will be selling Pin Fish on the water this year. We will be located between the last boat ramp and the mouth of the Carrabelle river. I will still stock Pin Fish at the Hometown BP for a while but hope to move all live bait business on the water. I have plenty of froze bait on hand to start the season so stop by the store while you're in Carrabelle and visit a while. We have bait, tackle, gas, great food, snacks, beverages of all types and much more so stop by the Hometown BP & Deli for all your needs, and the friendliest service around, not to mention very clean bathrooms. So stop by "HOMETOWN BP & DELI YOUR ONE STOP SHOP".
